Bilateral workshop between workers and private sector representatives

Within the framework of the SOLiD2 project to promote the path of inclusive and multilateral social dialogue in the countries of the South Mediterranean, a workshop was held on Monday October 3, 2022 at the Carmel Inn, Ramallah – Palestine with the presence of representatives of the General Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions, in addition to representatives of employers' organizations from The   Palestinian Federation of  Industries and the Federation of Palestinian Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture to address the most prominent challenges and priorities that must be discussed through joint action between all social parties.

The main objective of the training was to promote the idea and concept of social dialogue as a tool to address the most important issues and challenges, emphasizing the importance of exchanging views and proposals to advance the economic and social situation and create decent job opportunities.

The SOLiD charter, which includes the most important outputs and conclusions of the first phase of the project, was presented and a strategic strategy for joint action and for the development of a new system for social dialogue with objective consensus and understandings between social partners. Then the participants were divided into working groups to discuss the various points that fall into the charter such as the informal economy, tax policies, wages and prices, employment policies to reduce unemployment, the rights of migrant workers and the policies of institutionalizing multilateral social dialogue in Palestine.

Among the most important outcomes of the workshops there was many recommendations and proposals that reflected the most important problems in the field   and the possible ways to overcome the economic and social crisis.

This workshop is part of a set of training courses for different target groups in the countries of the second stage of the SOLiD2 project, followed by several bilateral and multilateral meetings and workshops in order to deliberate on the charter in order to contributes to the advancement of the economic and social situation through the mechanisms of social dialogue.
